Cristo Rey Jesuit High School seeks to hire a Geometry Teacher, Social Studies Teacher and a Nurse for the 2012-13 school year. See below for job descriptions.

Geometry Teacher

CRJ seeks a full-time Geometry Teacher whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks.

  • Work and solve problems collaboratively with other Cristo Rey Jesuit High School (CRJHS) staff

  • Teach five geometry sections

  • Teach one class in the freshman summer program (if needed)

  • Attend required school events beyond the school day such as Open House and Parent Nights, apart from those events that occur on Saturdays

  • Serve as an advisor to one advisory group

  • Take part in one community service activity with advisory group (House)

  • Chaperone two school events (such as testing, dances, field trips, college visits, etc.)

  • Take advantage of professional development opportunities

  • Attend and contribute to grade level team, faculty, and department meetings

  • Complete hall, cafeteria, monitored homework, after-school and other duties as assigned

  • Communicate regularly with parents of students and advisees

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the school President or Principal

Qualifications

  • Strong teaching background, including training and experience, in field

  • Successful experience working with urban population

  • Personal commitment to Jesuit mission in education and work-study nature of the school

  • Patience, stability, talent, and flexibility needed to respond to the demands of a young school

Schedule

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School teachers are expected to:

  • Work for eleven months of the school year, from August 1st until June 30th.

  • Be on campus between 7:40 and 4:30 p.m. daily, and until 5:00 pm on Wednesdays except during the summer program, when schedules vary.

Accountability

In collaboration with the leadership staff, all CRJHS faculty will work to create a high quality academic, co-curricular and work-study program.  The Geometry Teacher reports to the Principal.

Nurse

CRJ seeks a Nurse who will be responsible for identifying and treating health disorders among students and providing instruction in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention.  The Nurse must evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate resources as needed.  Decisions made by this employee require discretionary judgment and analysis.  The School Nurse is a full-time position whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks.  The Nurse will:

  • Collaborate with other child-support agencies and school professionals in designing and providing a school health program

  • Monitor compliance of school health program with federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies

  • Negotiate professional and medical services essential to the school health program

  • Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services

  • Maintain the security of school health supplies

  • Teach freshman health classes within the Body, Mind, Spirit course

  • Serve as a resource person on health issues

  • Provide staff development on health-related topics, including allergic reactions and blood-borne pathogens, for school staff and volunteers

  • Screen and conduct health appraisals for students

  • Provide follow-up evaluations on students as required

  • Recommend corrective action where medical problems are identified

  • Correspond with parents on health needs of children

  • Record and maintain confidentiality on student immunizations, health findings, annual health records forms, and other relevant health data

  • Prepare and maintain first aid supplies in each classroom

  • Prepare first aid supplies and list of medical conditions and emergency phone numbers for classes student groups going on field trips

  • Collaborate with other school professionals to develop and implement school crisis and MERT plans

Qualifications

  • Maryland Licensed Registered Nurse, certified by the American Nurses' Association

  • Evidence of effective human relations skills

  • Evidence of knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to health services, child welfare, confidentiality, reporting and referral

  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment

  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development

  • Knowledge of the school organization and the community served

  • Personal commitment to the Jesuit mission in education and work-study nature of the school

  • Patience, stability, talent, flexibility, and work ethic needed for the demands of a start-up school

  • Self-initiating, organized, outcomes driven, team player, excellent written and oral communicator

Schedule

The Nurse will work from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. throughout the school year.
