Baltimore, MD, April 12, 2022– Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is excited to announce a record-breaking result from the 2022 Stand Up for Students event, presented by Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company. Held on Friday, April 8,2022 at the American Visionary Art Museum, Cristo Rey Jesuit’s signature event returned in-person for the first time since 2019 and raised a record-breaking $242,000, enough to fund scholarships for 32 incoming freshmen in the class of 2026.
“We are incredibly grateful for such a generous and supportive community, especially our chairs Ari Azarbarzina nd Arianna Pannoni, who are dedicated to the Cristo Rey mission and the success of our students. The funds raised from this event allow us to continue transforming lives and providing our students with a rigorous academic program and invaluable real-world work experience to prepare them for success in college and their future careers” commented Cristo Rey Jesuit President, Dr. Bill Heiser.
With more than 250 people in attendance, the Stand Up for Students event was full of fun and philanthropy. Emceed by Baltimore news icon Stan Stovall, the crowd heard from chairs Ari Azarbarzin and Arianna Pannoni and listened to moving testimonies from seven CRJ seniors discussing their experiences as students at Cristo Rey. Attendees also participated in both a live and silent auction, featuring fine dining experiences, luxurious getaways, and fun packages from local businesses around Baltimore. Comedian Scott Long ended the evening with an interactive comedy routine, bringing many laughs to the audience.
“It was so moving to be amongst so many leaders within the Baltimore community while we raised a record-number of funds for the Cristo Rey students. Thank you to the Leadership Advisory Council and all of our incredible sponsors for their commitment and dedication to making tonight such a success,” stated Ari Azarbarzin, co-chair of the 2022 Stand Up for Students event.
Funds raised during the 2022 Stand Up for Students go directly to funding tuition for the Class of 2026, making Cristo Rey’s private-school education accessible to students throughout all of Baltimore’s communities.
