For Immediate Release:
Baltimore, Md., December 6, 2019 - The community of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School will host a Peace March on Friday, December 13, 2019. This march will begin at 4:00pm on the corner of Eastern Ave and S. Chester St. Students, teachers, parents, and all citizens of Baltimore are invited to join and march together to City Hall, where at approximately 5:00pm Jaida Wilson ‘20 and Zachary Bacon ‘20 will lead a prayer service for victims of crime in Baltimore.

So far in 2019, the City of Baltimore has lost 17 innocent children and adolescents under the age of 18 to violent crime.  Families and friends of these homicide victims have suffered tremendous trauma, which has ultimately negatively impacted the city and the Cristo Rey Jesuit school community.

“This injustice is unacceptable and needs to be addressed,” shared Estefania Garcia ‘20. “We need to come together and push for change.”   Keon Rosado ‘20 added, “It’s important to raise awareness for those who have lost their lives."

Students are asking all concerned citizens to attend the march to help honor the lives of the 17 children and adolescent victims.

In the event of inclement weather on December 13, the Peace March will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 1:00pm, followed by a prayer service outside of City Hall at 2:00pm.
